Why trying it on your own face matters

The difference between a hairstyle app and a hairstyle catalog.

A catalog photo tells you nothing

The model in the photo has a different face shape, a different hairline and different coloring. A blunt bob on a long oval face is a completely different haircut than the same bob on a round face. You cannot judge it until you see it on yourself.

Your face stays your face

HairGlam regenerates your photo with the new hair while keeping your features, skin tone and lighting. If a cut makes your jaw look wider or your forehead look shorter, you will see that before you are sitting in the chair.

Color is the expensive mistake

A cut grows out. A bad bleach job is months of toner appointments. Seeing platinum, burgundy or jet black against your actual skin tone first is the cheapest test available.

It doubles as a reference photo

Salon miscommunication usually starts with a photo of someone else. Bringing a render of the cut on your own head is a much clearer brief for your stylist.

Questions people ask before downloading

How does an AI hairstyle try on work?
You upload one clear photo of your face. The AI reads your face shape, hairline, skin tone and lighting, then regenerates the photo with the hairstyle you picked, keeping your own features intact. HairGlam returns the result in seconds, and you can keep swapping styles on the same photo.
Is HairGlam free?
The app is free to download and you can try it without paying. HairGlam Pro is an auto renewing subscription (weekly or yearly) that unlocks unlimited try ons and the full catalog. You can cancel any time in your App Store account settings.
Does it use my own face or a model?
Your own face. That is the whole point. A lot of hairstyle apps show you a catalog of models wearing the cut, which tells you nothing about whether it suits you. HairGlam renders the style onto your photo so you are judging your own face shape, hairline and coloring.
How many hairstyles and colors are there?
Over 240 hairstyles and hair colors, including bobs, pixies, shags, braids, curls, bangs and fades, plus natural shades from jet black to platinum blonde and bold fashion tones like burgundy. New looks are added to the Trending and Celebrity Looks rows regularly.
Will it work on men's haircuts?
Yes. Fades, taper cuts, buzz cuts, textured fringes, mullets and slick backs all render on a male photo. The face shape logic is the same for everyone: it is your bone structure and hairline that decide what works, not your gender. There is a men's page with the detail.
What kind of photo gives the best result?
Face the camera straight on in even daylight, with your hair pulled back from your forehead and no sunglasses or hat. Avoid harsh side lighting and heavy filters. A plain background helps. A good photo is the single biggest factor in how realistic the result looks.
What happens to my photo?
Your photo is used to generate the looks you asked for. It is not sold and it is not shared with advertisers. You can review the full privacy policy linked from the App Store listing before you upload anything.
Can I show the result to my stylist?
That is one of the most useful things you can do with it. Save the look and show it at the salon. A reference photo of the cut on your own face removes the guesswork that comes with holding up a picture of someone else.
Which iPhone do I need?
Any iPhone running iOS 15.1 or later. HairGlam is rated 4+ and lives in the Photo & Video category on the App Store.
